  1. I always try and carry a camera when on a family walk. That
  2. camera is  also always switched on and ready to go - Why carry it 
  3. otherwise.

  5. This  shot is on the beach near Robin Hood`s Bay,  Yorkshire. 
  6. The woman walked past with her dog and I turned round, focused
  7. INFRONT of them, then, as they moved into focus, pressed the
  8. release. This is a good trick if you don`t have autofocus,  and
  9. is often a  good idea even if you do.

  12. The  camera was a Pentax ME Super,  with 70/210 Vivitar zoom. 
  13. The zoom gives the chance to alter the composition rapidly in
  14. order to achieve the best effect.  Modern zoom quality is so good
  15. that they rival fixed focal length lenses for most purposes.

  17. Composition for this type of picture usually looks best using 
  18. the rule  of thirds.  That sets the main subject towards the
  19. left,  or right  of the frame.  In this case,  the woman was
  20. given space  to walk into.
